The Nigerian Navy has officially invited qualified Nigerians to apply for special enlistment into the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29. Online registration for this opportunity commences on December 27, 2023, and concludes on February 7, 2024.

Medical Fields:
The navy is seeking Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, Pharmacists, Medical Lab Scientists, Physiotherapists, Radiographers, Optometrists, Medical Records/Health Information Managers, Clinical Psychologists, Biomedical Engineers, Public Health Officers, General Nurses/Midwives, Social Welfare Officers/Nutritionists, and Occupational Therapists.
Engineering:
Candidates with B.Sc or B.Eng qualifications in Control Engineering, Naval Architecture/Ship Design, Marine Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical), and Mechatronics Engineering are encouraged to apply. Membership in the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) will be advantageous.
Information and Communication Technology:
Those with B.Sc/B.Tech/B.Eng in Computer Science or Computer Engineering are eligible, with preference given to those specializing in Networking, Programming and Software Development, Server and Database Administration, Cyber Security, Computer Forensics/Digital Investigation, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence.
Legal Service:
Aspiring Legal Service officers must hold LLB and BL degrees, with an LLM in International Maritime Law, International Law, or Forensic Law considered an added advantage.
General Information for Candidates:
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and are warned against providing false information. Minimum educational requirements include Second Class Upper Division for first-degree holders and Upper Credit for HND holders. Computer literacy is an added advantage.
Certificates must be fully registered with relevant professional bodies, and foreign credentials should be authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Education. NYSC discharge or exemption is mandatory, and applicants should be between 22 and 28 years old (not exceeding 30 for Medical Officers). Height requirements are 1.68 meters for males and 1.65 meters for females.

Qualifying Aptitude Test:
Shortlisted applicants will undergo a qualifying aptitude test, the details of which will be available on the Nigerian Navy website. The test centers include Abuja, Bauchi, Owerrinta, Lagos, Port-Harcourt, and Sokoto.
Submission of Form:
After completing the application form, applicants should click “SUBMIT” on the portal to generate a Transaction ID. The entire application process is free of charge, and applicants are cautioned against giving money to individuals under any guise.
