The Kebbi State Police Command has detained Inspector Nura Ahmad following the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old resident, Ahmed Ibrahim, in the Yauri Local Government Area. The incident occurred when Ahmed allegedly refused to pay a bribe demanded by the officer.
The tragic event took place around noon on Wednesday in the Zamare area. According to Ahmed’s brother, Jabir Ibrahim, the confrontation escalated during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Zamare-Yauri road.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the arrest and detention of Inspector Ahmad at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi. The PPRO stated that the officer’s unprofessional conduct led to Ahmad Ibrahim being shot in the chest. Ahmed was rushed to General Hospital Yauri, where he was pronounced dead.
SP Nafiu Abubakar expressed the Command’s condolences to the deceased’s family and assured the public of a thorough investigation. “The Command is using this medium to condole with the immediate family, friends, and well-wishers of the late Ahmad Ibrahim. We pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace and for his family to find the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Justice will be served, and the outcome of the investigation will be disclosed in due course,” he stated.
