Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Possess a First Class or Upper Second-Class Honours degree in their undergraduate studies.
- For PhD scholarships, a Second Class Lower Division degree is acceptable.
- Hold a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate.
- Secure at least two admissions from UK universities before applying.
Additionally, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
- Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by September 2024.
- Demonstrate the inability to afford studying in the UK without the scholarship.
- Provide all necessary supporting documentation in the required format.
Eligible Countries for Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships
Nigerian students are among those eligible to apply, alongside candidates from other Commonwealth countries such as Ghana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, and more.
Application Process
The application process is free, and candidates are required to submit their applications online. Applicants must also print their completed forms for submission. For PhD candidates, a supporting statement from a UK university supervisor is mandatory.
The following supporting documents must be uploaded in PDF format:
- Proof of citizenship or refugee status.
- Full academic transcripts.
- References from at least two individuals on institutional letterhead or emailed from a verified source.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) will not accept documents submitted outside the online system or after the deadline.
