Nigeria's I-DICE Programme Set to Create 2 Million Jobs, Says VP Shettima

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has announced that the federal government will launch the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (I-DICE) programme on May 15, aimed at creating two million jobs. Speaking at the Chronicle Roundtable in Abuja, Shettima stated that the programme is part of the administration’s efforts to address unemployment and drive economic growth.

The Vice President expressed optimism that the country’s economic growth rate will soon surpass its population growth rate, and inflation figures will decrease. He attributed the removal of the subsidy on petroleum products as a necessary step towards achieving this goal.

Shettima also highlighted the administration’s eight-point agenda, which prioritizes job creation, economic growth, food security, poverty eradication, access to capital, rule of law, anti-corruption, and inclusive development.

Former Finance Minister, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, emphasized the need to reconcile the Renewed Hope Agenda with medium and long-term plans for the country. He urged President Tinubu to set an example by sacking underperforming ministers, as promised during the presidential retreat.

This development is expected to bring significant growth to Nigeria’s economy, and the I-DICE programme is a crucial step towards achieving this goal. With the launch of this programme, Nigeria is poised to experience positive changes across various economic indicators, bringing hope to millions of Nigerians.
