Only Official NIN Documentation is Valid

NIMC emphasized that the only recognized and valid forms of NIN documentation are:

  • NIN Slip: The official document issued upon successful NIN enrollment.
  • General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC): The only authorized NIN card issued by NIMC.

Any other forms of NIN cards are unauthorized and should not be used for identification.

Public Advisory and Security Measures

To protect citizens and prevent fraud, NIMC advises the public to:

  • Avoid Unauthorized NIN Modifications: Changes to NIN data should only be made through NIMC’s official self-service portal to ensure data security.
  • Beware of Fraudulent Websites: Nigerians should avoid using unauthorized websites or third-party platforms for NIN services, as these could compromise their personal information.
  • Do Not Photocopy or Scan NIN Details: NIMC warns against photocopying or scanning NIN slips or virtual cards by unauthorized individuals or organizations to protect data privacy.

New NIN Card Plans by NIMC

In response to public demand, NIMC plans to launch an improved General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC). This upgraded card will serve as both a physical means of identification and a payment method, powered by AfriGO, a local payment platform.
