
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a stern warning to individuals, cybercafés, and organizations engaged in the unauthorized printing of National Identification Number (NIN) cards. This practice is illegal and violates the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007. The agency has also announced that security agencies have been alerted to apprehend and prosecute those involved.

Only Official NIN Documentation is Valid
NIMC emphasized that the only recognized and valid forms of NIN documentation are:
- NIN Slip: The official document issued upon successful NIN enrollment.
- General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC): The only authorized NIN card issued by NIMC.
Any other forms of NIN cards are unauthorized and should not be used for identification.

In response to public demand, NIMC plans to launch an improved General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC). This upgraded card will serve as both a physical means of identification and a payment method, powered by AfriGO, a local payment platform.
