The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has made a significant announcement regarding the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr. Following reports from National Moon Sighting Committees across Nigeria confirming no sighting of the new moon, the Sultan has declared Wednesday, April 10, as the day of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
The decision, announced through a statement signed by Prof Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, aligns with the traditional practice of determining the beginning of the new month based on the sighting of the moon.

In parallel, Saudi Arabia has also reported the non-sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal, indicating that fasting will continue on Tuesday. Accordingly, the Kingdom has announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.
This simultaneous declaration by both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia underscores a unified observance of Eid-el-Fitr across regions, fostering solidarity among Muslims worldwide.
In light of these announcements, His Eminence, the Sultan, extends his felicitations to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, urging them to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country. He also extends warm wishes to all Muslims for a happy Eid-el-Fitr.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia has urged believers to utilize the remaining moments of Ramadan for activities that please Allah, reflecting on the spiritual significance of the holy month.
