In a significant development on Christmas Day, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, announced that the Federal Government has recommenced the payment of arrears owed to beneficiaries of the N-Power programme. The initiative, launched in 2016 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, aimed to combat youth unemployment and foster social development.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Minister Edu clarified that the government, led by President Bola Tinubu, had paused the payments upon assuming office to address lapses in the scheme. The beneficiaries, who had experienced delays in receiving several months’ salaries from the previous administration, have now begun to see funds deposited into their accounts.
