In a significant move towards fostering youth empowerment and reducing unemployment rates, Wema Bank has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to unveil the groundbreaking NYSC-ALAT Accelerator Programme. This strategic partnership aims to facilitate a seamless transition for young Nigerians entering the labor market, providing them with valuable resources for skill acquisition, job placement, and career development.

The NYSC-ALAT Accelerator Programme seeks to equip NYSC members with essential skills and resources to enhance their employability and contribute to national development. The initiative includes grants and funding to help participants establish sustainable income streams. Moreover, the program offers cutting-edge digital training in key areas such as design thinking, artificial intelligence, programming languages, and content creation, in collaboration with industry giant Microsoft.

The partnership was formally announced at a MOU signing ceremony held in Abuja, Nigeria, where both organizations pledged their commitment to reducing unemployment and underemployment rates among Nigerian youth.

Mr. Tunde Mabawonku, Wema Bank’s Executive Director of Retail and Digital, underscored the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Wema Bank, with 79 years of financial inclusion, is committed to empowering lives through innovation. This partnership with NYSC is a platform for the growth and development of Nigerian youths, intertwining digital technology with daily life and driving economic growth.
