In a recent meeting held in Abuja, the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) called upon the Federal Government to address the pressing issues of insecurity and economic challenges faced by Nigerians.
In a communiqué read by Governor Bala Mohammed, the chairman of the forum, the governors highlighted the need for urgent initiatives involving all levels of government to find lasting solutions to the nation’s crises. They reiterated their commitment to contributing to efforts aimed at ensuring the security and well-being of the people.

The governors emphasized the urgency of implementing state police with appropriate safeguards to prevent any potential abuse or overreach by any tier of government. This proposal aligns with their vision for a more decentralized approach to security matters.
Governor Mohammed addressed the collaborative efforts between opposition governors and the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government in addressing national challenges. He emphasized the bipartisan approach, stating, “The majority of Nigerians voted for this administration, so we are doing so much across party lines.”

While expressing concerns about certain policies affecting the economy, the governors maintained a constructive opposition stance, advocating for policies that would bring relief to all citizens. They acknowledged the democratic process and urged Nigerians and other relevant organs to make decisions that would benefit the nation.
On the internal front, the governors affirmed their support for the PDP leadership in the upcoming Edo governorship election, emphasizing unity within the party to ensure a smooth succession process.

The forum passed a vote of confidence on the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, demonstrating their solidarity with the party’s leadership.
In attendance were governors from various states, including Rivers, Oyo, Adamawa, Plateau, Zamfara, Taraba, Edo, Enugu, and Delta.
