Police Invite Emir Sanusi for Questioning Over Palace Guard’s Death

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has officially invited the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for questioning following the death of a palace guard during the recent Eid celebrations.

The fatal incident occurred on March 30, 2025, at the Kofar Mata Eid Ground, where a palace guard was stabbed, leading to his death. Several individuals were also injured during the violent episode, casting a shadow over the Sallah festivities.

A letter of invitation, signed by Commissioner of Police Olajide Ibitoye on behalf of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), requested the Emir to appear at the FID office in Abuja on April 8, 2025. The letter specified that the meeting would focus on investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack within the Emir’s domain.

The Emir has been asked to report to the Force Intelligence Department, situated opposite the Police Force Headquarters at Area 11, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect linked to the stabbing incident. The suspect reportedly carried out the attack while security officials were escorting Emir Sanusi after the Eid prayers.

Additionally, a palace official, Wada Isyaku, also known as Shamakin Kano, has been invited by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
