President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of retired Supreme Court Justice Uthman Muhammad Argungu, describing it as a significant loss to the nation. Justice Argungu, who died at the age of 90, was a highly respected jurist and close associate of the President.
The late justice was buried on Sunday in Argungu, Kebbi State, in accordance with Islamic rites. In a statement released by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Justice Argungu’s life of service, integrity, and dedication to the law and humanity.
The President reflected on Justice Argungu’s remarkable career, starting as a teacher in the former Sokoto Province, his call to the bar in 1965, and his elevation to the Supreme Court in 1993. He also acknowledged Justice Argungu’s international contributions, including his tenure as a visiting justice of the Supreme Court of the Gambia.

President Tinubu extended condolences to the late justice’s family, the government and people of Kebbi State, and the legal community. He also prayed for his soul’s peaceful repose, urging Nigerians to honor his legacy by upholding the values he embodied.
Justice Uthman Argungu’s life and contributions to the judiciary remain an enduring source of inspiration for the nation.
