President Tinubu to Attend Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit. The summit, scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, is being held at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

This year’s summit will focus on addressing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution. President Tinubu is expected to call for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace in the region. His participation highlights Nigeria’s commitment to global peace and its active role in addressing international issues.

The Nigerian delegation will include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

The summit provides an opportunity for Nigeria to strengthen diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations, while also showcasing Africa’s perspective on global conflict resolution. Following the summit, President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja. His presence at the event underscores Nigeria’s role as a key voice in international diplomacy.
