Saudi Arabia Hosts Donors, Raises $1.1bn for Displaced Persons in Nigeria and Other Regions

Saudi Arabia recently led an international donors’ conference in Jeddah, raising over $1.1 billion to support displaced persons and refugees across Nigeria, the Sahel, and the Lake Chad regions. The conference was organized by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in partnership with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The funding came from contributions by over ten donor countries and agencies, all committed to addressing the growing humanitarian needs of crisis-affected communities in Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, and Mali.

At the event, Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Royal Court advisor and KSrelief Supervisor General, expressed appreciation to the donors, highlighting that the contributions would empower humanitarian groups to deliver critical aid while fostering resilience for affected populations. He added that Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, remains dedicated to expanding aid in collaboration with international partners.
