In a bid to foster entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has unveiled an innovative internship program aimed at identifying, training, and empowering future business leaders. The agency’s Director General, Charles Odii, announced the launch of the “SMEDAN Undergraduate Internship Programme” during an event at Baze University in Abuja.
The program, set to provide hands-on entrepreneurial experience to students, has set an ambitious target of facilitating 10,000 internship placements in 2024. Odii expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, emphasizing its significance in advancing the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sub-sector.

Several prestigious firms have pledged their commitment to the program, offering internship opportunities for students seeking practical knowledge and experience. During the launch, Farida Akuyam, a Business Management student at Baze University, was unveiled as the pioneer participant.
Odii highlighted the program’s focus on spotting and nurturing potential entrepreneurs who could contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s business landscape. The selected students will not only gain practical experience but also benefit from specialized training, networking opportunities, and mentorship.
SMEDAN’s commitment to making strategic investments in talent and innovation is evident through this program, signaling a major step towards building the next generation of successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
