Stay Out of Politics and Focus on Divine Duty, Kebbi Governor Warns Religious Leaders

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has delivered a stern warning to religious leaders in the state, urging them to refrain from political involvement and instead focus on their religious duties. In a recent address during a courtesy visit by the Waziri Gwandu, representing the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Illiyasu Bashar, Governor Idris emphasized the importance of religious leaders abstaining from using their platforms for political gain.

The governor expressed concern over the practice of some Ulama using pulpits or Tafsir sessions to criticize political leaders, describing it as a violation of the sanctity of their religious roles. He stressed that such actions contradict the divine injunction and urged religious leaders to uphold their values as promoters of good character and morality.

Governor Idris, who also holds the traditional title of Kauran Gwandu, acknowledged the support of the Gwandu Emirate Council to his administration and called for continued prayers from traditional institutions for peace and prosperity in the state.

The governor commended the revival of the Durbar tradition during the recent Eid-el Fitr celebration by the Emir of Gwandu, considering it a significant cultural honor. He reiterated his commitment to advancing economic growth and infrastructural development in Kebbi State.

During the courtesy visit, the Waziri of Gwandu, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar, along with other members of the Emirate Council, congratulated Governor Idris on the successful completion of Ramadan and Eid-el Fitr celebrations. They pledged their unwavering support and loyalty to the governor and commended his efforts in transforming Kebbi State into a modern urban center, particularly the capital city of Birnin Kebbi.

Prior to the meeting, the Emir of Gwandu led a captivating durbar procession, which was observed with admiration by Governor Idris and other government officials.
