The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident during a phone conversation with PUNCH Online. The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the deceased’s body has been transported to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu. “Our men on traffic inspection visited the scene when we received a distress call. It was an industrial accident. The body has been deposited at the OOUTH morgue in Sagamu,” Odutola stated.

Attempts to obtain an official response from KAM Steel Integrated Company have been unsuccessful as the contact number listed on the company’s website went unanswered.

This incident underscores the critical importance of stringent safety measures and protocols in industrial environments. Continuous training and rigorous adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect workers from accidents and fatalities.

In a related incident, a 25-year-old construction worker in Lagos State died after falling from a storey building at a construction site in Banana Island, Ikoyi. The worker fell while removing lintel wood, highlighting recurring occupational hazards in various industries.

As investigations continue into the incident at KAM Steel Integrated Company, it is crucial for companies to prioritize the health and safety of their employees, providing necessary training and safety equipment to prevent such devastating accidents.
