It’s tailored for individuals enrolled in programs such as Ph.D., Integrated Ph.D., M.Tech., M.Des., and Bachelor of Science (Research). However, applicants seeking admission to M.Sc., M.Mgt., or B.Tech. programs are not eligible.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
The financial support varies depending on the program of study. Here’s a breakdown of what recipients can expect:
- Ph.D. Programs: Research fellows receive ₹37,000 during the junior phase, which increases to ₹42,000 at the senior research level.
- Integrated Ph.D.: Students begin with ₹16,000 and later move up to the same JRF and SRF levels.
- M.Tech. and M.Des.: Both programs offer a stipend of ₹12,400 per month.
- M.Tech. (Research): Also awarded ₹12,400 monthly.
- Bachelor of Science (Research): Undergraduate students receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000.
These scholarships usually last up to 2 years for master’s-level courses and 5 years for doctoral programs.
Key Eligibility Requirements
To qualify:
- You must be admitted into a relevant program at IISc.
- Candidates should not be receiving a salary or funding from another employer or sponsor.
- Fellowship eligibility also depends on the student’s mode of entry and may be backed by agencies like CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, MHRD, AICTE, or DST.
- Students in excluded programs (M.Sc., M.Mgt., B.Tech.) are not eligible.
