The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has honored Professor Isa Ali Pantami, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, with the traditional title of Majidadin Daular Usmaniya. This title was conferred in recognition of Professor Pantami’s dedication to public service and his contributions to educational and social development across Nigeria.
The title ceremony followed Pantami’s keynote address at the 11th Shaykh Usman Ibn Fodiyo Annual Lecture, held in Sokoto, where he spoke on “Unity as a Panacea to Insecurity and Poverty: Lessons from the Sokoto Jihad Leaders.” His speech emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in addressing national challenges such as insecurity and poverty, drawing lessons from the historical legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate’s leaders.
