Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has announced the state’s readiness to implement the new minimum wage as agreed upon by the Federal Government and organized labor. Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Jalingo, Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers.
Governor Kefas emphasized that protecting the rights and privileges of workers remains a top priority for his administration. He declared, “We are committed to ensuring that whatever figure is finalized as the new minimum wage, we will pay. The welfare of our workers is our responsibility, and we are ready to align with the Federal Government’s decisions.”

He assured workers that the state government is closely following developments and is engaged in discussions to ensure a smooth implementation. “We are progressing and waiting for the final decision from the Federal Government. We are in this together and will make sure our workers’ welfare is taken care of. We are also holding behind-the-scenes talks to reach a consensus,” Governor Kefas added.
The organized labor is currently advocating for a minimum wage of N250,000 per month, while the Federal Government and the Organized Private Sector have proposed N62,000 per month.
