A dangerous TikTok challenge has left a teen disfigured with nearly 80% of his body burned, according to reports. The 15-year-old boy from California suffered severe burns after attempting the ‘fire challenge’, a viral trend on TikTok where people pour flammable liquid on their bodies and set themselves on fire.
The teen, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He suffered burns to his face, chest, and back, leaving him unrecognizable to his family and friends.

The boy’s family has spoken out about the dangers of social media challenges and urged other parents to be aware of what their children are doing online. “We never thought something like this could happen to our family. Please, if you’re a parent, talk to your children about the dangers of these challenges,” said the boy’s mother in a statement.
