Terrorists attacked Natsini, a village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Thursday night, leaving two police officers dead and stealing nearly 200 cattle. The attackers stormed the community late at night, targeting a compound where the livestock was kept, forcing residents to flee for safety.
Hamza Shuaibu, a resident, said the terrorists avoided harming civilians and focused on stealing the livestock. He explained that the cattle belonged to Lawali Black, a businessman based in Argungu town. According to Shuaibu, about 20 of the rustled cattle returned to the community on Friday morning, while another 20 were left behind during the raid.
Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the deaths of two officers who were killed during a gunfight with the terrorists. He added that the police were pursuing the attackers and that efforts were ongoing to recover the stolen cattle.

This is not the first time the area has been attacked. Two months ago, terrorists invaded Mera, another village in Argungu Local Government Area, killing 15 residents who attempted to prevent cattle rustling. While some reports suggest the Lakurawa insurgents may be responsible for the latest attack, the police said investigations are still ongoing and that it is too early to confirm the identity of the perpetrators.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges facing communities in Kebbi State and highlights the need for urgent measures to protect lives and property in the region.
