‘There’s No Project Mbappé,’ Real Madrid Star Warns Parents Against Forcing Kids to Be Like Him

‘There’s No Project Mbappé,’ Real Madrid Star Warns Parents Against Forcing Kids to Be Like Him

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has spoken out against the growing trend of parents pressuring their children into rigorous training regimens in hopes of replicating his success.

In an interview with Clique TV, Mbappé expressed concern over what has become popularly known as “Project Mbappé”—a reference to parents aiming to mold their kids into football superstars. The 25-year-old forward, who has an illustrious career including a World Cup win, seven Ligue 1 titles, and seven Ballon d’Or nominations, warned against forcing children into such demanding routines.

“Enough, Kylian Mbappé tells you,” he stated firmly. “My parents never put pressure on me. My father didn’t force me to run laps at 6 in the morning. They let me enjoy myself. Football was my choice, not theirs.”

Mbappé emphasized the importance of allowing children to follow their own passions, saying, “Maybe the boy just wants to play for one year. Leave the boy alone. Young people shouldn’t have to dream about being me. Dreams should be limitless.”

A Brother’s Love Over Real Madrid Ambitions

Mbappé also revealed a heartwarming detail about his decision-making during his transfer saga with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer of 2023. He shared that he was prepared to renew his PSG contract—potentially giving up his dream of playing for Real Madrid—to support his younger brother, Ethan, in his football career.

“It could have happened,” Mbappé admitted. “I told him: if you want to stay, I’ll renew, and we’ll stay for a while. What’s the point of signing for the best club in the world if you end your brother’s career?”

Despite the challenges during his transition to Real Madrid, Mbappé remains optimistic about his future with the club. He acknowledged a slow start to the season but promised to deliver in the crucial second half.

“We haven’t lived up to our expectations, but at Real Madrid, we prepare for the moments that count. That’s when you will be judged,” he said confidently.

Mbappé’s remarks underscore his grounded perspective on fame and success, encouraging parents to foster joy and independence in their children rather than imposing lofty expectations.
