Founded in 2010, the Tony Elumelu Foundation is committed to empowering African entrepreneurs, catalyzing economic growth, and fostering women’s economic empowerment. Through its flagship TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, the Foundation has disbursed over $100 million in funding, trained over 2.5 million Africans, and supported over 21,000 entrepreneurs, creating more than 800,000 jobs.

The 2025 Entrepreneurship Programmes

TEF Entrepreneurship Programme
Open to all African entrepreneurs with innovative ideas or existing businesses (not older than five years). This year, there’s a special focus on businesses leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green initiatives.
IYBA-WE4A Entrepreneurship Programme
Exclusively for women entrepreneurs in Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, and Togo. Focus on green business ideas and sustainability.
Aguka Ideation Programme
A partnership with UNDP Rwanda and Rwanda’s Ministry of Youths and Arts, supporting Rwandan entrepreneurs aged 18-30. Provides a $3,000 seed capital to nurture innovative ideas into viable enterprises.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Open to entrepreneurs with scalable business ideas or existing businesses not older than five years. Focus areas include AI, green business ideas, and sustainability.
