Troops of Operation Whirl Punch Eliminate Six Bandits in Kaduna

In a decisive move against banditry in Kaduna State, troops of Operation Whirl Punch have neutralized six bandits in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area. This operation was confirmed by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, on Friday.

The successful military operation targeted several troubled areas within Birnin-Gwari, including Maidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka villages. Four bandits were killed in Saulawa, and two others were eliminated in Farin Ruwa.

The operation led to the recovery of significant weaponry and ammunition. The recovered items included one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), two AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines, one FN rifle magazine, twenty-two rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, fifty-one rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, and one motorcycle.

Commissioner Aruwan stated, “In another victory for the security forces against bandits and terrorists in Kaduna State, troops neutralized a total of six terrorist elements during a strong round of clearance operations in Birnin Gwari LGA.”

The troops from Sector 4 Operation Whirl Punch and the 198 Special Forces Battalion executed the operation based on precise intelligence regarding terrorist activities. The operation began with clearing hotspots and continued with successful engagements at Saulawa and Farin Ruwa, where bandits were neutralized, and additional equipment was seized.

Governor Uba Sani praised the troops for their effective collaboration and coordination, which resulted in this notable success. He urged the security forces to persist in their efforts to dismantle bandit enclaves in the region.
