A key highlight of the event was a tree-planting exercise involving numerous participants and stakeholder representatives. This activity aligned with this year’s theme, “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” advocating for the rejuvenation of land affected by deforestation, erosion, and desertification both globally and specifically in Nigeria.
During the program, Patricia Iwhewhe, Head of Citizenship and Sustainability at Union Bank, emphasized the critical need for environmental preservation. She highlighted that land degradation and erosion are pressing issues that cannot be ignored by stakeholders and policymakers. Iwhewhe called for collective action to restore and reclaim degraded land.
