UNIZIK to Honor Seyi Tinubu as 8,157 Graduate at 19th Convocation

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, is set to host its 19th convocation ceremony from March 25 to 28, 2025. This significant event will celebrate the academic achievements of 8,157 graduates across various disciplines. The ceremony will commence with a lecture by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

A highlight of the convocation is the conferment of honorary degrees on distinguished individuals who have made notable contributions to society. Among the honorees are Dr. Ali Pate, Nigeria’s Minister of Health; Chief Chika Emenike, a renowned industrialist; and Oluwaseyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These individuals are being recognized for their impactful work and dedication to societal development.

The graduating class comprises 6,126 first-degree recipients, 463 PhD candidates, and 16 graduates from the UNIZIK Business School, along with holders of postgraduate diplomas in education and other fields. Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu emphasized the university’s commitment to academic and infrastructural excellence, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at creating a conducive learning environment.

Prof. Ikechebelu also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Education Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa for their support in helping UNIZIK navigate challenges and regain stability. He assured attendees that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of all participants during the convocation events.

This convocation not only marks the culmination of years of hard work for the graduates but also underscores UNIZIK’s dedication to fostering leaders equipped to contribute meaningfully to societal development.
