However, the truth behind the incident has now emerged, revealing a different narrative.

The clip features the so-called pastor, dressed in a vivid blue suit, calmly petting the growling lions within their enclosure in Nigeria. Astonishingly, he even risked placing his arm inside one of the lion’s mouths, exuding unwavering confidence throughout the ordeal.

The scenario seemed to be a recreation of the biblical account of Daniel, who, according to the Bible, was cast into a lion’s den but emerged unscathed through divine intervention.

Despite the initial awe and shock the video generated, investigations by the BBC have challenged the authenticity of the man’s claims. Contrary to his self-proclaimed religious role, he is, in fact, a zoo keeper, not a pastor.

This revelation led to a humorous response from Kenyan MP Ronald Karauri, who, upon seeing the viral footage, volunteered to cover all expenses for the man to replicate his stunt with wild lions at the Maasai Mara National Reserve. His offer sparked a flurry of comments and challenges from locals, some doubting the authenticity of the lions involved, while others suggested the lions had been fed before the stunt.

Questions have also been raised about the soundtrack in the video, with viewers wondering whether growls were added artificially over the natural audio.

While the video initially claimed to be from Nigeria, the BBC traced its origins to Somalia, further muddying the waters of this bizarre incident. The BBC’s investigation definitively confirmed that the man featured in the video is not a religious leader but a zoo keeper.
