In his first Democracy Day speech as president, Bola Tinubu addressed the recent removal of subsidy on petrol in Nigeria, acknowledging the hardships it would impose on the Nigerian people. Tinubu stressed that the government would repay the people’s trust and belief by making substantial investments in transportation infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare, and other public utilities. These efforts, he promised, would improve the overall quality of life for Nigerians.

President Tinubu urged Nigerians to endure the effects of the subsidy removal, highlighting the need to protect the country’s resources from the grip of a few unpatriotic elements. He assured the nation that his administration would fulfill every component of its manifesto, known as the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.
Calling for a rededication to democracy, Tinubu emphasized the importance of elected leaders providing selfless service to the Nigerian people and delivering on their electoral promises. He pledged to govern with fairness, respect for the rule of law, and a commitment to uphold the dignity of all citizens.
