Call for Application: WTO Internship Programs for Postgraduate Students and Doctoral Candidates

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has opened applications for its 2025 internship programs, offering postgraduate students and recent graduates a chance to gain valuable experience in the multilateral trading system. These opportunities are available to candidates from WTO member states, including Nigeria, and certain observer countries.

The internships aim to build expertise in international trade while fostering diversity within the organization. With limited spots available, selection is based on merit, academic qualifications, and relevant experience. The application deadline is January 1, 2025.

WTO Internship Program Overview

The WTO offers three distinct internship programs:

  1. WTO Internship Program for Postgraduate Students
Open to postgraduate students and recent graduates with advanced degrees in economics, law, political science, or international relations. Interns will work on trade negotiations, legal analysis, and research projects.
  2. China’s LDCs, Accessions, and General Internship Program
This program focuses on providing hands-on experience to candidates from developing and least-developed countries (LDCs). Successful applicants will work on projects related to global trade processes and LDCs’ participation in trade negotiations.
  3. WTO Support Program for Doctoral Studies
Aimed at Ph.D. students from developing countries and LDCs, this program provides support for research on international trade. Interns will contribute to WTO’s academic and policy-related projects.
