
In a significant move to ensure the smooth conduct of local government elections, the Benue State House of Assembly has approved a budget of N6.6 billion. This decision was made during a plenary session held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, presided over by the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh. The approval comes just weeks before the scheduled election date of October 5, 2024.
The supplementary budget, officially titled the “2024 Supplementary Budget Estimates,” was proposed by the state governor, Hyacinth Alia. The total amount, N6,644,778,900.00, is intended to cover all expenses related to the upcoming local government elections. The budget estimate was read aloud on the Assembly floor by Speaker Dajoh, who led the session.
The Assembly members, in a unanimous voice vote, expressed their support for the budget, thereby granting the necessary funds for the election process.
