Breaking: Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates Starts October 25, 2024

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 – Second Series, will commence on Friday, October 25, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024.

In a statement released by WAEC on Tuesday, it was disclosed that the examination would be conducted using a hybrid mode. This implies that while the objective or multiple-choice questions will be displayed on-screen and answered digitally, essay and practical questions will also be presented on-screen, but candidates will respond using traditional answer booklets. WAEC also offers an alternative for candidates who prefer the traditional Paper and Pen mode, allowing them to take the entire examination in this format.

The Council also shared some good news for potential candidates. The registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, giving more time for interested individuals to register. Additionally, WAEC has maintained the “Walk-in-Candidate” option, which allows candidates to register for specific papers 24 hours before the exam day.

For candidates looking to prepare thoroughly, WAEC highlighted the availability of several learning resources. These include the WAEC e-Study platform, which provides access to study materials, WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and WAECKonnect, an interactive platform where candidates can connect with each other.

WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to using technological innovations to enhance the accessibility and convenience of its services for all stakeholders. The final timetable for the examination can be downloaded from the WAEC Nigeria website.

WAEC also wished all candidates success in their upcoming examinations, encouraging them to make use of the resources provided for a better chance of excelling.
