The announcement, made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Friday, December 22, designates Monday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 26, 2023, as well as Monday, January 1, 2024, as public holidays.
Minister Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the federal government, extended warm felicitations to Christians and all Nigerians, both at home and in the Diaspora, on the occasion. The minister emphasized the need for citizens to embody the values of humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness, reflecting the teachings of Jesus Christ during this festive season.

In a statement signed by the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Peter Egbodo, the minister underscored the crucial role of peace and security in driving economic development and prosperity. Minister Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to exercise vigilance and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agencies. With a focus on discipline during the Yuletide season, he reiterated the importance of protecting lives and property in communities across the nation.
