In what can be described as a stunning victory, Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged as the winner of the supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State. The announcement was made by the state Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Mele, who revealed that Fintiri won with a total of 430,861 votes, defeating his closest rival, Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 396,788 votes.
The supplementary election was necessitated after the initial election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to the margin between the leading candidates being lower than the total number of cancelled votes. However, Fintiri’s victory has put an end to the uncertainty surrounding the election and reaffirmed the popularity of the PDP in the state.
