Dino Melaye, who was a member of the House of Representatives and later a Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, has been a vocal politician and critic of the current administration in Kogi State. His emergence as the PDP Governorship candidate is seen as a significant development in the state’s political landscape, as he is expected to give a tough fight to the incumbent Governor, Yahaya Bello.
With the PDP’s massive support base in the state, Melaye’s candidacy is expected to give the party a fighting chance in the Governorship election. The election is expected to be keenly contested, as the current Governor, Yahaya Bello, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is also expected to seek re-election.
