
In a significant move to support education and reduce financial pressure on families, the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the release of ₦422,101,955.30 for the payment of registration fees for 6,127 Kebbi State indigenes in two federal universities.
The beneficiaries are students of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) for the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to the breakdown:
- ₦211,626,378.30 has been allocated to cover the registration fees of 3,922 students at FUBK.
- ₦210,475,577.00 has been approved for 2,205 students at UDUS.
Kebbi Students Celebrate as Gov Idris Approves Full Payment of University Fees
The announcement was made by the Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Isah Abubakar Tunga, during a news briefing held in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Hon. Tunga stated that this intervention reflects Governor Idris’s deep commitment to improving education and ensuring that financial challenges do not hinder Kebbi students from pursuing their academic goals. He further revealed that similar financial support will soon be extended to Kebbi indigenes studying in other tertiary institutions across the country.
He expressed the ministry’s appreciation to the governor for what he described as his “unwavering dedication to the educational advancement of Kebbi State.”
The approval was officially announced by Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State.
