Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has expanded his cabinet by appointing 200 youths from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Special Assistants. The new appointments, which include both male and female appointees, highlight the governor’s commitment to fostering inclusive governance and empowering young people in the state.
The announcement was made during a ceremony at the APC Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday. Abubakar Kana-Zuru, the State APC Chairman, expressed pride in the governor’s achievements, noting that Governor Idris had fulfilled around 80% of his campaign promises, which included free distribution of fertilizers, foodstuffs, and support for small-scale enterprises. Kana-Zuru further emphasized the governor’s ongoing efforts to complete and surpass these promises in the near future.

These developments, Kana-Zuru noted, have significantly transformed the state.
“If you haven’t visited Kebbi in the last one or two years, you will not believe the changes you’ll see today,” Kana-Zuru stated, praising the governor’s open and people-centered approach to governance.
A’isha Gulabi, the State APC Women Leader, also expressed gratitude for the new appointments, emphasizing that the benefits of the governor’s actions extend beyond the appointees themselves. She encouraged the youth in the state to remain loyal and respectful, assuring those who were not appointed this time that their opportunity would come soon.
The newly appointed Special Assistants expressed their appreciation, with many describing Governor Idris as a servant leader dedicated to the well-being of the people. They expressed confidence that their roles would contribute to the continued progress of the state.
Governor Idris’ expansion of his cabinet is seen as a strategic move to enhance youth involvement in governance and ensure that more people benefit from the dividends of democracy in Kebbi State.
