CDCFIB Speaks on Candidates Who Faced Issues During CBT Exam

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has finally spoken on the technical problems that affected many candidates during the recent computer-based test (CBT), bringing some relief to thousands of applicants who were left confused and worried after the examination.

According to the Board, it is fully aware of the disruptions that occurred across several centers. These issues, which affected candidates in different locations, ranged from system failures to incomplete examination access. While the situation caused panic and frustration among applicants, CDCFIB has confirmed that steps were immediately taken to look into the problem.

Nature of the Technical Problems

Many candidates reported seeing messages such as “Exam Already Completed” even before starting their test. Others experienced sudden logouts, missing exam links, slow servers, and questions failing to display properly on their screens. In some cases, candidates were unable to complete the examination due to repeated system crashes.

These issues sparked widespread concern on social media, with many candidates calling for a complete resit of the examination.

CDCFIB’s Official Position

In response, the recruitment board acknowledged the technical hitches and confirmed that its technical team was directed to work on fixing the issues immediately. The Board also opened a complaint channel where affected candidates were instructed to submit details of the specific problems they encountered.

However, CDCFIB made it clear that no official announcement has been made regarding a general re-conduct of the CBT. The Board advised candidates to ignore unverified information circulating online and to rely solely on updates from the official CDCFIB recruitment portal and verified social media platforms.

What Happens Next for Candidates

While a mass resit has not been confirmed, the Board’s decision to gather reports from affected applicants suggests that each case may be reviewed individually. This approach could allow for fair judgment on candidates who were genuinely disadvantaged by the system failure.

Meanwhile, successful candidates from the CBT phase are expected to move forward to the next stage of the recruitment process, which includes physical screening and document verification scheduled to begin in early December 2025, barring any changes from the Board.

Advice to Applicants

Candidates are advised to remain calm, patient, and alert. Those who experienced technical issues should ensure they have properly submitted their complaints through the official CDCFIB channels. Applicants are also encouraged to use reliable devices, preferably laptops, maintain stable internet connections, and strictly follow all examination guidelines.
