In a significant development for the state of Kano, the outgoing governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, will perform the official handing over of the affairs of the state to the governor-elect, Engr. Abba Yusuf, today. This momentous occasion is scheduled to take place at the Government House in Kano around 9pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Confirming the news, Malam Muhammad Garba, the outgoing Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, expressed that the Kano State Government Transition Committee has already communicated the details to the transition committee of the governor-elect. The two committees convened earlier this week, during which a comprehensive handing-over document was presented to the governor-elect committee. Furthermore, a harmonized agenda for the handing-over ceremony was diligently worked out.
Following the event, Governor Ganduje will depart for Abuja to lead the Kano delegation at the inauguration of a prominent political figure, Tinubu, on Monday, May 29. The urgency of the governor’s departure is driven by the imminent closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for the inauguration ceremony.
The statement released by the Commissioner emphasized the importance of prayers for peace and development in the state. As Kano witnesses this transition of power, the hopes and aspirations of the people remain centered on continued progress and prosperity.
This momentous handover signifies a critical juncture in Kano’s political landscape, with Engr. Abba Yusuf poised to take the reins of governance. The people of Kano eagerly anticipate the implementation of the governor-elect’s vision and the fulfillment of his promises for the betterment of the state.
