
As the Eid El-Fitr celebrations approach, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. On March 27, 2025, the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, announced the deployment of 4,000 officers across the territory.

Strategic Deployment for Comprehensive Coverage
The NSCDC’s deployment strategy includes specialized units such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), and Counter-Terrorism teams. These officers will be stationed at key locations, including prayer grounds, shopping malls, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, the City Gate, Three Arms Zone, government buildings, and diplomatic areas. This comprehensive security plan aims to safeguard lives, property, and critical infrastructure throughout the festivities.

In addition to uniformed personnel, undercover operatives have been deployed for covert operations and surveillance to proactively address potential security threats. The NSCDC is also monitoring uncompleted buildings and other areas that could serve as hideouts for criminal elements. Dr. Odumosu has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure a visible security presence in their respective jurisdictions, emphasizing intelligence-driven policing and community engagement.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest security agency. The NSCDC has assured the public of a safe and peaceful celebration, urging everyone to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to safety guidelines during the Eid El-Fitr period.
