Aspiring job seekers across Nigeria have voiced their frustration over difficulties in accessing the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) recruitment portal since the commission announced job vacancies on January 27, 2025.
The Federal Civil Service Commission had publicized job openings through its official website and national newspapers, inviting applications for multiple positions in the Federal Civil Service. However, many applicants have encountered challenges logging in and registering on the portal, despite repeated attempts.

Several job seekers who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) lamented their inability to apply due to persistent technical glitches.
Mr. Felix Eneminyi, one of the frustrated applicants, expressed disappointment, stating that he was initially excited about the opportunity but has been unable to access the website.
“I have been trying to log in since the first day I saw the advert, but it has been extremely difficult. Up till now, I still can’t access the site,” he said.
Miss Ifeoma Eze, another applicant, blamed the issue on high traffic overwhelming the website’s servers.
“Given that there has been no federal employment for over a decade, the commission should have anticipated this surge and upgraded the portal beforehand,” she added.
Miss Gift Jacobs also urged the Federal Civil Service Commission to enhance the platform to avoid discouraging thousands of eager applicants.
“Many Nigerians have been waiting for this recruitment for years. The commission should improve the website’s accessibility to prevent further disappointment,” she stated.
Similarly, Miss Eneh Awodi shared her struggle, saying:
“I even tried logging in at midnight, thinking fewer people would be online, but I still couldn’t access the portal.”
High Traffic Overloads Federal Civil Service Commission Website
The primary cause of these difficulties appears to be the overwhelming traffic on the Federal Civil Service Commission website. Given the large number of unemployed graduates in the country, the surge in users was inevitable. Experts suggest that an upgraded server infrastructure and load-balancing mechanisms could have mitigated these challenges.

In response to the concerns, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, acknowledged the technical issues and attributed them to the unexpected volume of applicants attempting to access the site simultaneously.
“The Commission is aware of the situation and assures the public that our ICT department is working round the clock to resolve these issues and ensure a seamless application process,” he stated.
Prof. Olaopa further announced new measures to ease the process, including deploying additional servers, optimizing the portal’s performance, and introducing staggered access times for applicants.
“We have implemented a new system where applicants will have designated time slots to access the portal, reducing congestion and ensuring a smoother experience,” he added.
He urged applicants to remain patient while these improvements take effect, assuring them that the process will soon become more efficient.
How to Improve Your Chances of Accessing the Portal
While waiting for the portal’s full functionality, applicants can take the following steps:
- Try Off-Peak Hours – Access the site early in the morning or late at night when traffic is lower.
- Use a Strong Internet Connection – A faster connection can help load pages more quickly.
- Clear Browser Cache – Deleting cookies and cache may improve performance.
- Try Different Browsers – If one browser doesn’t work, switching to another (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge) might help.
- Monitor Official Updates – Follow the Federal Civil Service Commission’s website and social media for real-time updates on the portal status.
Final Thoughts
The ongoing Federal Civil Service Commission recruitment process has sparked massive interest, given the scarcity of federal job opportunities in recent years. While technical difficulties persist, job seekers remain hopeful that the commission’s newly announced measures will swiftly address the challenges and ensure a fair and transparent application process.
