The Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative is giving young Nigerians a golden opportunity to gain practical skills in high-demand sectors. With full sponsorship, monthly stipends, and starter support, this program is designed to prepare participants for employment or self-reliance.
The TVET initiative offers two major training paths—the 6-month Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme and the 1-year Vocational Education and Innovation (VEI) Programme. While both are fully funded and equally valuable, they are designed to meet different needs and qualifications.
Here’s what makes each one unique and how to know which is best for you:

Which Should You Choose?
If you have no formal education or prior skills, go for the 6-month STC Programme—it’s quick, accessible, and beginner-friendly.
If you’ve had some informal training or basic education, then the 1-year VEI Programme will take your skills to the next level and give you a stronger foundation for professional success.
Both programs offer free training, monthly stipends, and starter support, so the key difference lies in your background and the time you’re willing to commit.
