FIFA Builds N424 Million Mini-Stadium in Kebbi State, Boosting Nigerian Football Development

FIFA builts N424m Mini-Stadium in Kebbi State

FIFA, the world football governing body, has made a remarkable investment in Nigerian football by constructing a mini-stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the capital city of Kebbi State. The project, with a total cost of N424 million, was undertaken by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and received significant support from FIFA’s Forward Programme. This initiative aims to bolster football infrastructure in the region and contribute to the overall development of the sport.

The NFF representative in Kebbi State, Abubakar Ladan, emphasized the project’s objective of advancing football within the state. Kebbi State stands out among the seven states in the northwestern region, boasting the largest number of amateur football teams. However, the lack of adequate facilities has hindered the progress of the sport. Ladan hailed the newly constructed artificial pitch as a much-needed boost, propelling football in the right direction and overcoming the existing challenges.

In a statement released on FIFA’s official website [1], it was revealed that this project in Kebbi State is part of FIFA’s commitment to supporting football globally through its Forward Programme. Alongside the mini-stadium in Birnin Kebbi, FIFA is also constructing a simpler facility in Ugborodo, Delta State. These two projects have received approximately $2 million in funding from FIFA, showcasing the organization’s dedication to promoting the growth and accessibility of football in Nigeria.

The completion of the mini-stadium in Kebbi State marks a significant milestone for football development in Nigeria. The state-of-the-art facility is poised to provide a solid foundation for grassroots football, facilitating talent identification, skill development, and increased sporting opportunities for aspiring players. With proper infrastructure for training sessions, matches, and tournaments, the mini-stadium will foster a culture of excellence and sportsmanship within the footballing community of Kebbi State.
