The highly anticipated FIFA Foundation Community Programme for 2024 is now accepting applications from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide that are engaged in football-related projects with a focus on underprivileged children and youth. This remarkable initiative, driven by the love for the beautiful game, aims to harness football’s transformative power to address global challenges faced by marginalized youth and communities.
The application window is open until September 15, 2023, offering NGOs a unique opportunity to secure funding of up to USD 30,000 to support their football-related projects and initiatives within the communities they serve. In the previous year, 114 NGOs were selected to participate in the programme, showcasing the immense potential for positive change through football.
Mauricio Macri, the FIFA Foundation Executive Chairman, emphasized the program’s significance and urged more organizations to apply, stating, “In 2022 and 2023, we’ve witnessed football’s ability to unite the world. The FIFA Foundation Community Programme recognizes and capitalizes on football’s ability to make a real impact on the lives of millions of underprivileged children and young adults across the world.”
This innovative program aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, no poverty, reduced inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions, and the promotion of decent work and economic growth. NGOs are encouraged to demonstrate how they leverage football to address these critical social issues and drive positive change within their communities.
To enhance the application process and ensure inclusivity, the 2024 edition of the program will feature a series of capacity-building workshops. These workshops, which commence next week, will provide invaluable guidance to NGOs on the application process, budget preparation, and child safeguarding policies, among other essential topics.
