In a recent press statement, the Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Political Matters and Power, Alhaji Kabiru Sami, has called upon the Kaduna Electricity Company (KAEDCO) to address the persistent electricity supply issues in Kebbi State. The state has been grappling with low power supply, leading to widespread concerns among its residents.
During a meeting with KAEDCO management in Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Kabiru Sami emphasized the urgency of the situation and highlighted the negative impact of inadequate power supply on the state’s populace. He pointed out that the inability of some customers to pay their electricity bills stemmed from the inconsistent power availability in the region.

Alhaji Kabiru Sami also urged residents to prioritize timely payment of their bills to facilitate a more stable power supply. He reassured the public that the current administration, led by Dr. Nasir Idris, is committed to ensuring that the people of Kebbi State are not left in darkness due to power shortages. He underscored the importance of a collaborative effort between the state government and KAEDCO to rectify the ongoing electricity challenges.

In response, the Regional Manager of KAEDCO, Malam Gaddafi Ibrahim, acknowledged the substantial outstanding payments from customers due to the prevailing low payment of electricity bills. He acknowledged the poor performance of the power supply in Kebbi State, attributing it to the customers’ reluctance to settle their bills in the absence of consistent electricity.
Malam Gaddafi Ibrahim also shed light on some of the challenges faced by KAEDCO, including the operation of only one functional 75MBA transformer. This limitation has led to load-shedding in Birnin Kebbi, affecting the overall power distribution. To address this, he stressed the need for additional transformers, either 75MBA or 15MBA, to ensure a reliable and continuous power supply for the state.
Governor Nasir Idris has expressed his concern over the persistent electricity supply issues in Kebbi State, vowing not to leave his constituents in darkness. The collaborative efforts between the state government and KAEDCO signify a collective commitment to resolving the electricity challenges and providing the residents of Kebbi State with a brighter and more empowered future.
