Gunmen Kidnap Singer in Delta, Demand $200,000 Ransom

A distressing incident has occurred where an armed group has kidnapped a singer in Delta State and is now asking for a large ransom in exchange for his release. The victim, who is a singer signed under Eric Many Records, was taken captive in the early morning of Monday, April 29, 2024, after performing at a show in the vicinity.

Reports indicate that a singer, who goes by the name Gnewzy, was travelling back from a performance when his vehicle was stopped on Eklat Road in the Ughelli area of Delta State. The individuals who stopped the vehicle were armed and dressed in police uniform. They quickly abducted the singer and took him away.

Following the singer’s abduction, the kidnappers sent an email to his record label asking for a ransom of $200,000 in exchange for his release. The email, which our correspondent saw, contained a scary threat to harm the singer if the ransom was not paid within seven days. It also warned against involving law enforcement or marking the money used for the exchange.

Eric Many Records has issued a statement confirming the abduction and has assured the public of its cooperation with law enforcement agencies. The statement revealed that the singer’s manager narrowly escaped the abduction and has been cooperating with the police.

At the time of this report, attempts to contact the police for additional information about the investigation were unsuccessful. Nonetheless, the record label has encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in securing the safe release of the singer.
