The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release date for the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the 2023 academic year.
The announcement was made in Abuja at the end of an emergency management meeting held over the weekend. According to JAMB, the delay in the release of the results was due to the need to ensure that all necessary screenings were concluded and that the mean and standard deviation were reasonably obtained before releasing the results.
The board noted that the UTME results would be released on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Candidates who had challenges during the examination without being aware of such would not see their results but would instead see a notification for a rescheduled examination. This measure is to ensure that all candidates get a fair and equal chance at the examination, and any technical issues that may have occurred during the examination are resolved before the release of results.
Furthermore, JAMB announced that three categories of candidates who missed their examinations would be rescheduled for mop-up examinations. Candidates who could not sit the UTME within their scheduled time due to no fault of theirs would be rescheduled to take the examination on a specific date.
The UTME is a crucial determinant for admission into Nigerian universities, and aspiring students, as well as other stakeholders in the education sector, are eagerly awaiting the release of the results. The delay in the release has caused anxiety among candidates, but JAMB’s assurance of a thorough screening process before the release should give some comfort.
With the release date now set, candidates can look forward to accessing their results and taking the next step in their academic pursuits.
