In a decisive move to address multiple infractions and unwholesome practices in the National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment process, the Federal Government has announced the temporary suspension of Front-End Partners (FEPs) from engaging in NIN registrations. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is currently conducting a thorough revalidation exercise of these third-party registration centres.
The Director-General of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, disclosed the decision during the opening of a four-day training for the first batch of newly revalidated Front-End Partners in Abuja. The revalidation is aimed at improving the enrolment process and addressing outstanding debts owed to the Front-End Partners, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of data in the country’s identity database.

Coker-Odusote emphasized that the decision was not targeted at any specific individual or group but was a crucial step towards sanitizing the system and processes involved in NIN enrolment. She stated, “My administration has zero tolerance for corruption. We shall, therefore, not spare anyone found perpetrating corrupt practices or any other form of infractions.”
It is important to note that the revalidation exercise is being implemented in phases, and the suspension of Front-End Partners is the initial step in this process. NIMC reassures the public that NIN enrolment remains free of charge in Nigeria, and the government is committed to ensuring the credibility and transparency of the identity registration system.
