The announcement was made by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, during a post-Federal Executive Council (FEC) briefing on Monday.

During the same briefing, the Federal Government revealed that the University of Abuja has been renamed Yakubu Gowon University. This move honors the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, for his contributions to Nigeria’s unity and development.

The FEC also deliberated on the 2025 Appropriation Bill. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, expressed optimism about the budget’s potential to enhance private sector involvement in the economy. Minister Idris confirmed that the Federal Executive Council will hold its final meeting for the year on December 18, 2024. The council will resume on January 6, 2025, after the holiday recess.
