The Kaduna State Government has launched an electric vehicle (EV) initiative aimed at providing affordable and eco-friendly transportation for civil servants.
The initiative, unveiled at Murtala Square by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, offers tricycles and electric motorcycles to state employees through a subsidized loan program. Loan repayments will be deducted from workers’ salaries, making the scheme accessible and budget-friendly.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Balarabe highlighted the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare while promoting sustainable transportation. She emphasized that the project would not only ease mobility challenges for civil servants but also contribute to environmental conservation.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Kaduna State Government, the Nigerian Labour Congress, Paynacle Digital Service Limited, and Optimus Bank.
