Senator Rufai Hanga, representing Kano Central District, has made a significant donation of 1 million clay pots and burial materials to his constituents, aimed at assisting families with the burial process of their loved ones.
The donation, comprising 500,000 clay pots and 500,000 plain white cloths, comes in response to the frequent demands for assistance for burial materials from the constituents within the district, which spans across 15 local government areas.

These clay pots and white cloths hold cultural and religious significance, particularly in the Muslim community, where they are utilized for enshrouding corpses. Traditionally, a male corpse requires three wraps, while a female corpse requires five wraps to be covered properly.

The announcement of the donation was made by one of Senator Hanga’s social media aides, Dawuud Auwal, who highlighted the distribution process supervised by the district head of Tarauni and the committee overseeing the graveyard in Kano, Ado Kurawa.
Mr. Auwal also addressed the broader scope of Senator Hanga’s contributions, including scholarships for 200 students of Bayero University, registration assistance for over 1000 students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), as well as support extended to 200 students of Kano Polytechnic, among other initiatives.
Responding to criticisms of underrepresentation, Mr. Auwal emphasized the senator’s multifaceted efforts in addressing various needs within the constituency.
Senator Rufai Hanga’s donation underscores a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of his constituents, particularly during challenging times. Such initiatives contribute significantly to community welfare and highlight the importance of responsive representation in governance.
